Every post-sale leader is about to sit in the same meeting. Someone opens a laptop, plays a slick demo built over a weekend on top of an LLM, and asks the question that sounds unanswerable: why are we paying for a platform when we could just build this ourselves?
It is a fair question. It is also a category error. Deciding to build an AI Customer Growth Platform because you have a good model is like deciding to build your own AWS because you have Linux.
In this session, Gal Biran and Angela Ferrante take the build-versus-buy decision apart honestly, including the parts most vendors will not say out loud.
The math nobody screenshots: a DIY build looks cheaper in the demo, where inference is a rounding error. Six months in, the math flips. Twelve months in, it is awkward. Twenty-four months in, you are running less coverage at a higher unit cost, maintaining prompts nobody remembers writing.
The part we will say out loud: the strongest argument for buying today has a shelf life. As your own agent tooling gets better at assembling workflows, “you would have to build forty modules” stops being scary. What never becomes buildable is the part you cannot generate alone: cross-customer outcome data living in the matching model, and the consent and fatigue state kept accurate across every touch, over time. In eighteen months, that is the whole argument. We will show you why, and how to measure it before your board asks.
